Atlanta Housewives' Sheree Whitfield: I'm a free agent
The Real Housewives of Atlanta has lost a diva. After four years of drama, Sheree Whitfield is jumping ship. She's released an official statement regarding her departure and desire to tackle new opportunities.
After weeks of speculation, Whitfield released an official statement to Wetpaint Entertainment announcing her departure.
"After four solid seasons of helping Bravo build the show into its most successful Housewives franchise, I have decided to leave," said Whitfield. "The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness."
"I want to be part of something that empowers and inspires women to not only be healthy, but to treat themselves with respect. I wish the rest of the women the best of luck. I’m thrilled to say I’m now a free agent and am already fielding offers."
Following the news, the Bravo Network confirmed Whitfield's statement saying, "We have enjoyed working with Sheree as part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. We wish her all the best in the future."
Whitfield's exit may come as a shock to longtime viewers of the show. Many fans felt that co-stars Kim Zolciak or NeNe Leakes would be the next to go. Zolciak already has a spin-off series with husband Kroy Biermann called Don't be Tardy to the Wedding. And Leakes has been taking Hollywood by storm, scoring a recurring role on the hit sitcom, Glee.
The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta recently wrapped, and Bravo will air the second half of its reunion special tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
