Everybody loves Marilyn Monroe — it was both a blessing and a curse for the 1950’s icon. And one reality show is out to find the woman who can proudly follow in her footsteps.
Talk about timeless — the hope to emulate Marilyn Monroe has manifested in a new reality show. That’s right, watching Michelle Williams put on an award-worthy performance in My Week With Marilyn, or rooting for either Katharine McPhee or Megan Hilty for the lead role in Bombshell on Smash just isn’t enough. The Monroe madness will now be translated into reality television.
But the proposed show has legitimate backing behind it — Entertainment One (eOne) has announced that Finding Marilyn is a joint production with the estate of Marilyn Monroe.
“We are thrilled to give the winner of Finding Marilyn the opportunity to emulate Marilyn Monroe’s iconic journey to stardom,” said Nick Woodhouse, CMO of the estate of Marilyn Monroe.
The one-hour series will be a “real-life Cinderella story” that allows twelve young ladies to compete for a chance to make it big in Hollywood and become the next great American icon. No word on how just yet, though, or on which network we’ll be able to watch it all happen.
We’re officially intrigued though, since Finding Marilyn has gathered a handful of seasoned television producers: John Morayniss (Rookie Blue, Hung, The Firm), Rick De Oliveira (The Real World, Road Rules, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels) and Tara Long (Mary Mary, Party at Tiffany’s). Paired with two executives from the estate of Marilyn Monroe, this show might actually have a shot.
“We’re very excited to make someone’s Hollywood dream come true with Jamie, Nick, Joel and the estate of Marilyn Monroe,” said John Morayniss, CEO of Entertainment One Television. “eOne Television’s Reality team continues to do a fantastic job attracting highly notable partners and brands to work with. Finding Marilyn has all the ingredients for an epic reality series.”
