Justin Bieber took a play out of Ashton Kutcher’s Punk’d playbook when the 18-year-old pop phenom tried to buy the house he was renting — while Kutcher was still living in it.
“I knew I had to come back and do Two and a Half Men in January so I found this amazing house in L.A. that was on AirBnB and I booked this house to stay in for three months. I was away, I booked the house, it was all done,” he told Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week while promoting the reboot of his hit MTV prank show, now hosted by Bieber. Air BnB is one of Kutcher’s investments, but he didn’t mention it on the show — he’s got a knack for plugging his investments on-air whenever he finds the opportunity.
“So I was away and had booked the house, it was all done, and all of a sudden my assistant tells me there’s someone coming to look at my house to maybe buy it. Then I get a text from this [Bieber] and he’s in my house, checking it out. I was like, ‘Why are you trying to take my house out from under me?’… I had to buy the house because I thought he was going to buy it and I was like, ‘I don’t want to lose this house.'”
Kimmel suggested that maybe the two should live together.
“He’s not ready,” Kutcher joked.
“I’m 18, man,” Bieber replied. “You could train me.”
The pint-sized “Boyfriend” singer did say that Kutcher taught him about real estate and that he thinks of him as a big brother. As for Punk’d? Bieber was too young to remember much about the original show, he said.
“I was maybe 3 or 4 or something [when Punk’d aired],” he joked.
Sadly, he’s probably right.
