Gwyneth Paltrow talks to her father's ghost
Gwyneth Paltrow says she still talks to her beloved father -- even though he has been dead for almost 10 years. Read what she has to say about their otherworldly connection.
Gwyneth Paltrow was always exceptionally close to her father, movie producer Bill Paltrow -- and that has not changed, even though he has been dead since 2002.
The actress told The Sun that she still communicates with her dearly departed father on a regular basis using his wedding ring as a conduit.
"I always hold on to his wedding ring," Paltrow told the UK paper. "I ask it questions, I feel like it keeps me safe. I really sense the energy of his soul, I don't think that evaporates."
"I feel my dad, I still feel his love, I still speak to him and I still love him."
Her sense of spirituality plays a large role in this practice.
"I am interested in Jewish and Christian mysticism and Sufism. I'm also interested in cause and effect and karma and God," she explained. "I don't know if I will see him again. He never got to see his grandchildren. That really sucks because he would have been the best grandfather."
Paltrow also said she has become a better person through his death than she was before.
"Half the reason my life is good and has real, true value is that he died," she said. "I'd obviously rather have him alive, but he gave me so much in his death."
Bruce Paltrow died of complications from cancer and pneumonia a few days after Gwyneth's 30th birthday while they were on vacation together in Rome. She met her now-husband Chris Martin just weeks later.
