He missed the final cut by a thread during his first season on Project Runway and returning as an all star had him worried that the rejection would be repeated. Luckily, he made the cut and is here to talk about the competition when there were three.
In order to make it to the top three, Michael and the three other remaining designers had to win over Nanette Lepore along with their normal panel of judges.
“I wanted to stay really true to myself as a fashion designer and I wanted to do what I know and I know how to make dresses… I wanted to do something that was absolutely flawless to guarantee my spot [in the top three],” Michael told SheKnows. Even though that dress didn’t win him the challenge, it did earn him a spot in the top three, something he wasn’t lucky enough to achieve during season eight.
Michael’s BFF, Mondo, took home the cake on that challenge and now the buddies will go head-to-head during tonight’s finale of Project Runway All Stars.
But what about Kenley, who was sent packing just before the finale? “I felt bad for her but oh well,” Michael sealed the comment with a smirk. It seems to be a love/hate relationship.
Tune in tonight to see who steals the show, and the snazzy prize on Project Runway All Stars 9/8c.
