Kris Humphries wants $7 million from Kim Kardashian
The New Jersey Nets forward is being very forward about his divorce demands and will represent himself against Kim Kardashian.
As Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian move forward with their divorce, the basketball player continues to fight for what he says is rightfully his. What does he feel he deserves after supposedly being duped into marriage and divorce on reality television?
According to TMZ, the New Jersey Nets forward is demanding a cool $7 million from Kim Kardashian as part of an ultimatum -- pay him the money or be dragged into a very gruesome and very public divorce trial. That's just a bit of pocket change for reality TV royalty to keep her dirty laundry out of the public eye, right?
However, his request wasn't exactly met with open arms for a few reasons. Sources said that if the couple didn't enter a prenuptial agreement, their marriage only lasted 72 days, meaning that their community property would never be able to total up anywhere close to Kris' requested sum. Even more so, they did both sign one, so the Kardashian should then owe nothing to her former husband.
Another reason his request is outlandish: Kris Humphries actually made money from the short marriage. He collected around $1 million from his elaborate wedding and the E! television special, and also added between $250,000 and $300,000 from the reality show that followed.
Nevertheless, the Hump knows what he wants, and will apparently go to great lengths to get it, reports TMZ. Initially, he wanted his Minnesota business lawyer to represent him in the divorce courtroom, but California legislature requires clients with an out-of-state lawyer to have a local attorney as well. Kris then hired a Los Angeles lawyer who has since withdrawn from the case.
Therefore, the basketball player has filed the paperwork to represent himself alongside his business attorney. And they're up against famed celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, whose past success stories include Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Jennifer Aniston, Ryan Reynolds and more! Good luck, Humphries!
