Is anyone really surprised Fox picked up Jennifer Lopez’s Q’Viva! The Chosen? She does sit on the panel of the network’s biggest reality show, American Idol.
Writing Q’Viva! The Chosen is going to get daunting, so let’s just stick with Q’Viva, shall we?
Fox will begin airing Q’Viva on March 3, with two-hour episodes leading to the show’s April 7 finale.
If you’re not familiar with Q’Viva! The Chosen, the show features Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and concert director Jamie King traveling to “20 countries to find and showcase the most outstanding Latin singers, dancers, musicians and other amazing performers.”
The official Fox release goes on to say, “The transcontinental journey, which includes stops in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and the United States will also feature the incredible stories and personal journeys of the performers they discover.”
The contestants will eventually come to the United States for the show’s big finale.
Jennifer Lopez said in the statement, “Q’VIVA is a passion project on so many levels.”
The triple threat added, “It’s really our dream to see it come together. This is about creating a live visual experience about Latin culture, rhythm and dance. I believe that people will be so enlightened, so enriched by this experience.”
Her ex Marc Anthony said of the project, “I am thrilled about our new association with FOX and to have their support in introducing Q’VIVA to a global audience.”
With a slight dip in the ratings for American Idol, it will be interesting to see how Q’Viva! The Chosen does in the ratings.
