Katy Perry sends NFL Honors shout-out to Tim Tebow
The recently single Katy Perry gave a shout-out to Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow at the NFL Honors ceremony in Indianapolis over the weekend. "Tim, my parents said 'hi,'" the pop star remarked, reminding everyone in attendance that the two share parents with deeply religious convictions.
She dedicated a song to the dashing Bible thumper in a pre-game Super Bowl performance. The blue-haired singleton was positively playful, performing in a half-Giants, half-Patriots cropped jersey, lace-up booty shorts and tube socks.
Katy sent her not-so-subtle song "Peacock" out to the guy her parents have reportedly been trying to fix her up with since she became a free agent in December. The song contains cheeky lyrics like "I wanna see your peacock."
"This one goes out to Tim Tebow," she told the crowd before breaking out in song.
Earlier in the night, Perry whispered to her QB maybe-crush, "Hi, Tim. My parents say, 'Hi.'"
The response in the room, according to the NFL's official website: "Awkward giggles."
The moment likely reminded all in attendance that the pop star and the pigskin aficionado share a common bond: Deeply religious parents.
Katy's mother, an evangelical Christian pastor, is working on her latest mission from God: Getting her little "California Gurl" out on a date with the football hunk. Mary Hudson has allegedly taken it upon herself to help her daughter get over the heartbreak of losing husband Russell Brand -- by setting her up with the squeaky clean football ace.
"[Katy's] mentioned on more than one occasion how much she likes Tim," an unnamed tattle told OK! magazine last month.
"Katy's mom firmly believes the best cure for heartache is to quickly fall in love again. In her mind, Tebow is the perfect guy for her daughter. He's handsome, charming, intelligent and, above all, a good Christian."
