BET doesn't want anything to do with Nicki Minaj's new video
Censored! The video promo for femcee Nicki Minaj’s controversial new single -- “Stupid H*e” -- has been banned from broadcast on BET, celebrity insiders have revealed.
While you were sleeping, BET went and developed a pesky condition commonly referred to as "moral scruples!"
Nicki Minaj is building buzz for the forthcoming release of her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. And the Not-Safe-for-Work-ish music video for the lead single is doing a superb job of stirring up a firestorm.
Bosses at Black Entertainment Television won't touch the First Lady of Young Money's video raunchfest, controversially-titled "Stupid H*e, with a 10-foot pole, new reports claims. In a page ripped straight from the Book of Rihanna, BET has banned the clip just a few days before Nicki's career-high Super Bowl performance with pop queen Madonna.
The network isn't dishing any deets on exactly why Nicki's video earned a spot on the "Do Not Play" list. But we'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the excessive repetition of the phrase "You a stupid h*e" in the song's chorus -- coupled with the fact that the animated rap star appears to show her famous backside in the video -- might have something to do with the drama.
Moreover, one scene features Nicki dancing and writhing suggestively in a cage. This isn't the first time BET has banned a video. In 2010, the network ripped the visual for Ciara's "Ride" from rotation for being too sexual and sensual.
We're sure it's no skin off Ms. Minaj's well-contoured nose. The lyricist is still set to appear live at this weekend's Super Bowl Halftime Show. The artist will perform the new tune "Gimme All Your Luvin" with headliner Madonna and fellow femcee M.I.A.
And now that Simon Cowell's fired pretty much everybody on the judges' panel of the U.S. version of The X Factor, there's buzz that Nicki could replace Welshman Steve Jones as host!
