What does new Mindy Kaling pilot mean for The Office?

The Office just can’t catch a break. A pilot written by and starring NBC funny gal, Mindy Kaling, has been ordered by Fox. What does that mean for her character Kelly Kapoor on The Office? Keep reading to find out what we know.

Mindy Kaling has turned Kelly Kapoor into easily one of the funniest characters on The Office, but thanks to a new deal with Fox, it looks like Kaling might be jumping ship.

Fox has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot that is being produced by and starring Mindy Kaling.

Did we happen to mention she also wrote the pilot? Talk about a “do it all” woman!

The pilot features Kaling as an OB/GYN trying to juggle both her personal and professional life.

Sounds like the perfect show for a girls’ night in — or for a party of one — your choice.

Kaling will executive produce the pilot alongside Howard Klein (producer of The Office).

According to TV Line, Kaling would exit The Office should the Fox pilot get picked up to series.

This comes right on the heels that there is a Dwight Schrute spinoff that would put Rainn Wilson on his own show.

The spinoff would center on the adventures of Schrute Farms, which have been featured on The Office in the past.

Talk of a Dwight Schrute spinoff is a dream come true for a lot of fans!

Will The Office be down two key players sooner rather than later? We’ll let you know as soon as we know.
