Project Runway All Stars spotlight: Elisa Jimenez
Will her crazy superstitions save her from the bottom this season?
Elisa Jimenez from season four of Project Runway may be better known in mainstream America for her penchant for spitting than for her design work, but that hasn't stopped her from finding success. The designer made a quite an impression her first time on the runway and is back on this season of Project Runway All Stars to duke it out with Austin Scarlett, Mondo Guerra, Michael Costello, Anthony Williams and others.
Raised in El Paso, Texas, Jimenez holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Arizona. Her creations have been seen on celebrities such as Courtney Love and Marisa Tomei and have also been featured in films including Sex and the City and Requiem for a Dream.
Jimenez raised eyebrows during season four of Project Runway when she revealed that she uses spit to mark where she sews, calling it a "blessing" of sorts. Not one to disappoint, she came back with her personal brand of crazy again on Project Runway All Stars.
For the first challenge of the season on Project Runway All Stars, the designers were instructed to create an outfit using items from the dollar store. The inspiration for the piece was to come from a current creation that the designers brought with them from home. Unsurprisingly, Jimenez missed the mark on her winged dress with hot pants and was the first designer sent home.
With plenty of talent left this season, who will take home the grand prize and be the final designer standing? Tune in to Project Runway All Stars on Lifetime Thursday nights to find out whom the judges pick for a guest editorship at Marie Claire.
