Katy Perry drops hubby, nabs Sims game
Katy Perry has inked her first big deal since signing divorce papers. The "Teenage Dream" singer has partnered with Electronic Arts game franchise The Sims and will appear in the company's next computer game.
Russell Brand has bagged himself a late-night series on FX in the weeks since declaring his independence from wife Katy Perry -- but it's the pop tart who is being immortalized as a computer-generated character.
From blue hair to dresses covered in plastic fruit, the "I Kissed a Girl" singer is famed for her quirky image -- and now she'll get to feature it in an all-new computer game. Katy will appear in the new PC game, The Sims 3: Showtime, premiering in March.
Fans will be able to play Katy in their games and obtain "California Gurl"-themed goodies in the latest installment of the strategic life-simulation video game.
The singer is working closely with the Sims Studio to create accessories, clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props to ensure players get to feel just like the real Katy.
She'll also front a global advertising campaign touting the game's release.
"I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters -- giving them different careers and watching them succeed," Perry says of the partnership.
"It's cool to see the Sims stage performances in The Sims 3: Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour -- even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon and now I'm a Sim!"
Eh -- sorry, Russell. We're not sure a TV show is nearly this cool!
