In between important romance decisions on this week’s return of Glee, “Yes/No,” there were a few showstoppers.
Helen Mirren and NeNe Leakes made their long-awaited debuts and we have to admit — they were both worth the wait, for very different reasons.
Before we tell you all about whom Helen Mirren lent her voice to, and trust us, you’ll want to know, let’s chat about NeNe Leakes.
It was hard to pay attention to Mr. Schue’s big proposal plans with NeNe Leakes in the same episode.
The scene stealer made her debut as McKinley’s synchronized swim coach Roz Washington and what a splash she made.
From the moment she let Sam on the team so he could prove his athletic ability to Mercedes, Roz Washington was a hysterical force we wanted more of.
From, “Sam Evans! I am Coach Roz Washington and you are one strange lookin’ kid,” to “I had a dream (in a MLK-esque stance),” the character was perfect in every way.
What’s more, NeNe Leakes proved she can hack a network sitcom. This character is more than a one-episode wonder — we’re glad Glee realized it too.
On to Helen Mirren. Mirren’s voice was introduced in the first five minutes of “Yes/No” as none other than Sue Sylvester’s co-captain of the Cheerios, Becky!
Oh, this was priceless. Becky was on the prowl for a new man, so who better to voice her inner dialogue than a British voice? The reason? In Becky’s head she can sound like anyone — even a British queen.
Becky and her voice set their sights on Artie.
Artie’s obsession with spending time with her and a scandalous text message pic sent via Becky led to an intervention and a heartfelt talk between Sue and her buddy.
As for the big relationship answers of the episode, here you go: Mr. Schue put a ring on it, Becky got her heart broken, Sam and Mercedes are still in limbo (at least that’s how it looked) and Finn proposed to Rachel! Oh, did we forget to mention that one earlier?
You’ll have to wait two weeks to find out what she says — just like us! Darn! You know what else happens on Glee in two weeks? Michael Jackson, baby!
