Demi and Ashton's awkward Golden Globes run-in
Talk about awkward encounters! Did you hear about Demi and Ashton's run-in at a pre-Golden Globes party in Hollywood last weekend?
The divorcing couple's awkward run-in happened at a pre-Globes bash at Soho House in Los Angeles on Friday night. Luckily for Demi, she had some serious girlfriend back-up in pop queen Madonna.
Guests at the bash said a clean-shaven Kutcher decided the best option was to go over and speak to his ex-wife as a room full of Hollywood hobnobbers looked on wide-eyed.
"Within five minutes of them seeing each other, Ashton did come over," a partygoer told People magazine. "It was a crowded room, so he made his way over."
And by the sounds of things, it was a cool move from Ashton, 33, as a dignified Demi, 49, played along.
"Ashton and Demi didn't arrive together or spend the whole night together, but it was 100 percent normal. There wasn't an issue," the witness said.
Ashton also used the opportunity to chat up his former stepdaughter, Rumer Willis, 23. The two were all laughs and smiles as they talked for about 20 minutes before Willis, 23, went back to hanging out with her mom, spywitnesses say.
The chance sighting of Demi and Ashton was the first public one since the actress moved to end their marriage in November, amid a string of cheating allegations. Just before Thanksgiving, Moore abruptly announced plans to formally end her marriage to the Two and a Half Men actor, following tabloid reports that Kutcher repeatedly cheated on her.
The small screen side-splitter was even accused of bedding a twenty-something on the eve of their sixth wedding anniversary in September.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," Moore said in a statement.
Old pal Madonna has reportedly been Demi's rock through the devastating marital collapse.
"She is calling Demi almost every day and sends her messages telling her to be proud of her strength and to know that she fought to make her marriage work," Hello! magazine dished shortly after the high-profile split.
"Madonna has had many younger boyfriends so she understands their mindset. She has told Demi that Ashton's immaturity is evident and that she deserves someone who will fulfill her intellectually and emotionally."
