From soap stars to superstars: Actors who made the leap from daytime TV into the bigtime
You know them best from their appearances on the big screen, but some of Hollywood's hottest got their start in soaps. Find out who was working in day time before they made the leap into the big time.
10. Sarah Michelle Gellar
The sultry Sarah Michelle Gellar was only 18 when she scored a daytime Emmy for her work in "All My Children." On the soap, the up-and-coming star played Kendall Hart, the long-lost daughter of villain Erica Kane (who was played by Susan Lucci).
And while Gellar was stellar in her role, she reportedly split from the show in 1995 -- and rumor has it that she and Lucci had a less-than-loving bond. But Sarah Michelle Gellar would rebound quickly with a role in the campy but popular television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
She later went on to star in big-screen thrillers such as "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Cruel Intentions" and "The Grudge." Sarah Michelle Gellar has been a frequent favorite and winner at the Teen Choice and MTV movie awards -- a bit of a step up from starring in a Burger King ad at age 4, yeah?
