Rihanna ditches People's Choice Awards for NBA game
Rihanna was a no-show at the People’s Choice Awards, despite winning Favorite R&B Artist. Where was the singer? She was in town at the Los Angeles Clippers game.
Rihanna was noticeably absent from the People's Choice Awards, which aired live on Wednesday night. The singer was nominated for Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite R&B Artist -- and she actually won the award for favorite R&B artist-- however she wasn't there to accept it.
Why did Rihanna blow off the popular awards show? She was spotted across the street at the Los Angeles Clippers vs. Miami Heat game! She was photographed sitting front row at the game, wearing a sweatshirt and sideways cap drinking a beer. The singer, who is always on Twitter, failed to even thank her fans for her People's Choice Award.
Rihanna wasn't the only celebrity to blow off the People's Choice Awards. Katy Perry backed out at the last minute, however we give her a pass since she is dealing with her divorce from Russell Brand. Lady Gaga was absent, as was Kim Kardashian, who won the award for Favorite TV Celebreality Star.
"Kim didn't want to go to the People's Choice Awards yesterday because she didn't feel good about herself," a source told The Hollywood Gossip. "She came to Shades [hair salon] wearing dark sunglasses and seemed very withdrawn."
Kim did thank her fans for the award, writing on Twitter, "Thank you to everyone who voted for me tonight for the People's Choice Awards! It means the world to me!"
The People's Choice Awards may not mean much to Rihanna, but the Brit Awards sure do! The "We Found Love" singer will be attending and performing at the Brit Awards in February, along with Coldplay and Adele.
