Kylie Minogue clearly doesn’t carry a grudge. The Australian pop icon has publicly sent her well-wishes to ex-boyfriend Olivier Martinez hot on the heels of his reported engagement to actress Halle Berry.
“Congrats to Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry!! #wedding,” Kylie tweeted.
Olivier and Kylie were in a serious relationship for five years. He stood by her side throughout her battle against breast cancer. But the pair broke up amid scandal in 2007.
Just a week after tabloid reports surfaced claiming that Martinez was cheating on Kylie with Lost actress Michelle Rodriguez and an unidentified Israeli model, the pop princess and the “womanizer” called it quits. The two split after a “make or break” vacation in Mexico, pals said at the time, rejoicing that Kylie had finally let go of the “toxic romance.”
“Her family and friends have been unhappy about her relationship with Oli for some time. Her parents, Carol and Ron, have been especially vocal about this — though her sister Dannii quite likes Oli, as she has a thing for French men,” gushed a squeal in the Minogue camp.
“Kylie’s parents have always hated his hold on her, particularly when he persuaded her to move to Paris for her radiography in 2005. And when she abandoned her family Christmas in 2006 to again go to Paris and see him. She was desperate to make this work — but after months of rows and tears, has realized she will never change him.”
It seems the exes are on better terms these days, with Kylie currently happily dating Spanish model Andrés Velencoso and Olivier hopelessly in love with Halle.
Martinez — previously romantically linked to Angelina Jolie and Penélope Cruz — met the twice-divorced Berry when they co-starred in the 2010 film Dark Tide. Olivier and Halle embarked on a love affair just months after the actress’ acrimonious split from Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, the father of her 3-year-old daughter Nahla.
Oli presented Halle with a diamond-and-emerald engagement ring in a holiday proposal, People magazine reported Wednesday, citing the jeweler who reportedly designed the bauble.
“Olivier seems so devoted to Halle. Let’s hope he can break her curse of picking the wrong guy,” a Berry buddy told The Chicago Sun-Times this week.
The future newlyweds were most recently spotted at Canadian dance troupe Cirque du Soleil’s Iris show at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Publicists for Martinez and Berry have not responded to requests for comments on the engagement reports.
