New singleton Katy Perry — whose acting credits already include The Smurfs movie and a guest spot on TV’s How I Met Your Mother — is reportedly planning a more permanent future on screen. She’s enrolled in acting classes. Is a stint on TV’s Grey’s Anatomy next on her radar?
Future divorcée Katy Perry doesn’t want anyone else claiming they know the truth about her split from Russell Brand.
But what say the pop star about reports that she’s planning a foray into the world of acting?
We hear Perry has big plans for her year-long break from touring.
A potential career change.
From Grammy nominations to MTV’s first Artist of the Year prize, Katy enjoyed the biggest success of her music career in 2011. But tipsters say the star is gearing up to hit the screen and is already making progress as an actress.
Perry is actively being courted for the lead role as Marilyn Monroe in a musical adaptation of the critically-acclaimed film My Week with Marilyn. The role is in line with the star’s alleged dream of being cast in a movie musical.
“Katy wants to be a movie star more than anything and has been taking acting lessons for the past year,” a source tells Buzz magazine. “[Her] ideal role is to play a part in a movie musical like Chicago, Nine or Rock Of Ages, where she can sing and act at the same time.”
Katy’s even chasing a guest gig on the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, if gossip is to be believed.
“Her agent has been pursuing a one-off role for her as a dying/injured girl on Grey’s Anatomy, so it’s looking likely she’ll be doing that show next year.”
Katy made a guest appearance on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother last February.
The half-hour episode saw the “Teenage Dream” songstress as Honey, a cousin of Zoey’s (Jennifer Morrison), who has a knack for getting Neil Patrick Harris’ womanizing alter ego Barney to become uncharacteristically emotional. The guest spot marked the second time that Perry had worked with Harris, who co-starred with the busty brunette in the summer film The Smurfs.
