Russell Brand rang in the new year with a broken heart. Will he find happiness in the new year?
The new year hasn’t started out well for Russell Brand: The comedian just filed for divorce from wife Katy Perry after a year of marriage. However, the Brit is taking the high road and has plans for a happy year.
Brand, 36, stepped out with friends in London on New Year’s Eve. A partygoer wished the funnyman a Happy New Year, but he wasn’t too pumped to celebrate.
“Here’s hoping it gets happier,” he replied, according to the UK Daily Mirror.
He wasn’t pumped for partying — instead, he went back to his room for some alone time. “He wasn’t up for celebrating and just ordered food to his room. The next morning he was in the gym from 11 a.m. and spent two hours there,” an onlooker said.
His soon-to-be ex was still in Hawaii with friends, according to People. We have to wonder if she’s feeling the same way about the new year?
“Their lives were heading in completely opposite directions and they realized they had nothing in common and no future,” the source said. “Russell left his party lifestyle behind a long time ago because it nearly killed him. All he wanted to do is stay at home, do his yoga, keep his demons away and have a family with Katy.”
Here’s hoping he can find someone to have that family.
Do you think Russell Brand and Katy Perry called it quits too early?
