Crack open the champagne -- Britney Spears is engaged, y'all! The pop star went from being committed to a mental ward to becoming a functioning member of society in the last several years, and one person who couldn't be happier about her progress is the ex who saw her completely fall apart in the ugly days, Kevin Federline.

"I'm really happy for her -- I think he's a great guy," Federline told TV Week magazine.

"She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her."

In their most famous altercation, Britney showed up at Federline's gated driveway with a shaved head demanding to see her kids -- and when he refused, she tried to bash a photographer's car window out with an umbrella.

Through the power of love (and a court-ordered conservatorship) Britney seems to finally have her act together, and Federline seems to harbor no resentment towards the man who will now live his own dream.

"He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him," he said. "I've spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The kids speak highly of him [and] her family loves him."

Kevin Federline is currently filming the new reality weight loss show Excess Baggage.
