The time has arrived for the man suspected of killing Glee star Charice Pempengco's father to explain himself. Angel Capili Jr. has turned himself over to the chief of his village in the Philippines, but not before speaking to the press.

According to the Associated Press, Capili surrendered himself three days after 40-year-old construction worker Ricky Pempengco, estranged father of Charice, was stabbed with an ice pick, reportedly by a drunken Capili.

Apparently, Capili is also a construction worker, but police said the pair did not appear to know each other prior to Monday's brutal encounter.

"I had really planned to surrender because what I did was wrong," the man accused of Pempengco's murder told reporters on Thursday. "I am seeking forgiveness from the family left behind by Mr. Pempengco. ... I am prepared to suffer whatever is the judgment."

Despite begging for forgiveness, Capili offered no explanation as to why he stabbed Ricky Pempengco in both the chest and the back.

Interior Secretary official Jesse Robredo has spoken with Capili, revealing that the suspect says he was assaulted by Charice's father. Additionally, there appears to be a conflict regarding the actual murder weapon, which has previously been reported as an ice pick. "[Capili] was claiming that he was already backing away, but then [the victim] continued to attack him so he got a screwdriver and he stabbed Mr. Pempengco," Robredo said. "We will compare the account of witnesses with the account of the suspect."

Sending out support to her co-star, actress Lea Michele tweeted to Charice on Tuesday, "My thoughts and prayers go out today to my girl @OfficialCharice and her family for their terrible loss... Thinking of you Charice..."

The official Twitter of the actress, who rose to fame through the popularity of her YouTube videos, remains silent. The last message sent by Charice to her 620,000 fans was on Halloween. "I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore," she wrote. "I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year."

Should the justice system show mercy on the man who murdered Glee star Charice's father?
