Simon Cowell “thrilled” over The X Factor’s second season renewal

Despite lower than expected ratings, Simon Cowell’s U.S. version of The X Factor has still emerged as a top-rated fall reality show. Perhaps that’s why the show is hitting a high note with the news of a season two renewal.

Simon Cowell was singing the praises of The X Factor long before it made its U.S. debut and he must have known something we didn’t, because even with lower than anticipated ratings, the show is still sitting pretty in the standings among fall shows. Get ready for more, because The X Factor has been given a season two renewal.

If you’re following The X Factor on Fox, you know that it’s getting down to the nitty-gritty, which means talk over whether or not the show would be back for a second season was bound to start popping up.

Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, revealed on Wednesday (Nov. 2) that Simon Cowell’s reality show would indeed return for a second season.

Darnell said of the show, “The X Factor is a monumental success. It’s won every night it’s been on the air, the talent is phenomenal, the live shows are spectacular and picking it up is a complete no-brainer. Simon and his team have done an incredible job with the show, and I’m absolutely thrilled to bring back The X Factor for another fantastic season.”

The X Factor‘s future is safe — but with lower than promised ratings, is reality titan Simon Cowell pleased with the pickup and how things have gone this season?

Simon Cowell gushed over The X Factor’s second season pickup: “I am absolutely thrilled with the news.”

He added of season one, “I have loved making the show and I want to thank FOX, our sponsors and most importantly, the fans for supporting The X Factor.”

Sounds like the Brit is just tickled over the way things have turned out.

The X Factor has actually done really well for itself and had Simon Cowell not boasted of expecting impossibly high ratings for the show, we wouldn’t even be using the words “lower than expected ratings.”
