Jessica Simpson: "I'm going to be a mummy"
Jessica Simpson finally admits what we all knew: She's pregnant!
Jessica Simpson finally confirmed the obvious: She's going to be a mom! The singer and former reality star tweeted a link to the announcement on Monday afternoon.
"It's True! I am going to be a mummy!" Simpson tweeted, along with a cute photo of the mom-to-be dressed as a Halloween mummy and clutching her belly.
We give her credit: that's an adorable — and clever — way to admit the news to the world.
It was the next logical thing to do after the mom-to-be reportedly lost out on a $500K announcement deal, thanks to OK! Magazine.
The New York Post's "Page Six" reported that Joe Simpson brokered a six-figure payday for the announcement, but that fell through when the U.K. gossip magazine put Simpson on the cover with the caption, "Yes, I'm having a baby."
The problem? They never actually talked to her. Instead, the pieced together quotes and talked to sources who dropped the details.
The source told OK!, "Jessica is so excited. She joked, 'Well, now I can eat anything I want and no one will care. It's just sort of a rule with pregnant women.' But it was typical Jessica that she was making a joke of it."
Simpson hasn't been quiet about her desire to be a mother.
"There are no babies yet," she told the Huffington Post after her engagement to Eric Johnson. "But, I definitely see myself having a family with him, so that's exciting to think about."
Now it's true! However, the news wasn't secret to many insiders in Hollywood.
"I've known for a long time," tweeted Access Hollywood's Billy Bush. "But it's courtesy to allow a woman space especially til 1st trimester. Even a celeb."
He makes a good point. Congratulations, Jessica! The next question: what is she having and when is she due?
