The father of Amy Winehouse is writing a book to benefit her foundation.

Amy Winehouse

We think we know the tragic story of Amy Winehouse: Top talent burns too hot, gets sucked into addiction, dies too young.

Mitch Winehouse wants you to know there was much, much more to his daughter -- and now he is going to tell her story, and by doing so hopes to help heal his heart and raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The book, Amy, My Daughter, will be published by Harper Collins and is scheduled to hit bookstores by the summer of 2012.

"I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery," Mitch Winehouse said. "I also want to raise as much money as possible for Amy's foundation, so all proceeds from the book will go directly to help children who are disadvantaged through illness and substance addiction."

"I believe that through Amy's music, her foundation, and this book, her name will live forever."

Amy Winehouse died in July.

Mitch has really gotten the ball rolling on the Amy Winehouse Foundation after the whole Amy Winehouse cybersquatting incident was cleared up. He has already booked his first fundraising gig: He will perform at a charity boxing match supporting Cancer Research UK and donate his entire fee to the new Foundation. He will perform tracks from his album Rush of Love. Amy's duet with Tony Benett will also benefit the organization.
