Kat Von D isn’t letting the heartbreak over her break-up with Jesse James hold back her career. The tattoo artist-turned-reality star is embarking on a new career path: music.
“I’ve been passionate about music all my life,” Von D told E! News last weekend. “I’ve been playing classical piano since I was six. So I understand the form, but it will be fun to be able to translate a message.”
The 29-year-old tattooed beauty said music is a lot like her other art forms: tattoos, makeup and fashion.
“I think it’s much like tattooing or the TV show or makeup, my clothing line, fashion,” she said. “All those things, they’re just different outlets to be able to be creative. So music, I think it’s going to be one of those things.”
Von D counts Depeche Mode and The Cure among her influences and her debut album will have tinges of those artists. She definitely has the look down, too.
“More on the dark, more tragically romantic,” she said of her music. Who wants to bet she’ll have a song or two about James on there? Christina Fulton has a song about Nicolas Cage that she might want to listen to first.
She does need more to do now that her TLC show, L.A. Ink, is dunzo.
“In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup [from Jesse James], the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming,” Von D revealed to People after they announced the end of the show. “I have no regrets and am very proud of the original footage. In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and viewers.”
Sounds like she has plenty of dirty laundry to air in her album!
