Brandy’s acting again! The former Moesha star has landed a new (possibly) recurring role on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva and she’s spilling the beans about her new gig!
Sunday’s episode of Drop Dead Diva will have new drama and a new co-star in Brandy! The singer and actress guest stars as a woman from Parker’s (Josh Stamberg) past, who’s in need of some serious help.
Brandy recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly and opened up about her character Elisa Shayne and the trouble that comes with her. Shayne and Parker dated eight years ago and she’s in need of help when her dying father’s insurance company refuses to pay out his policy.
In reference to her past relationship, Brandy says, “I think she was really in love with Parker at one point, and you know how Parker is on the show. She couldn’t handle his lifestyle, so she moved on. She’s a really somber woman. She’s quiet. She’s a good mom. She loved her dad. She’s a nurse. She’s a caretaker. I fell in love with her when I talked to the producers about her.”
But Elisa Shayne’s not as squeaky clean as you might think. She has a big secret that might come back to haunt her ex. The actress says, “She starts to work at the firm, and she definitely has some things that she’s keeping from people.”
Brandy is optimistic that the unresolved issues between Elisa and Parker will keep her character around (if Lifetime renews it for another season). The network seriously needs to get on that because the show is truly amazing and Brandy would make a great addition.
Drop Dead Diva airs Sunday on Lifetime at 9 p.m.
