Leave it to outspoken singer Adam Levine to not mince words in telling MTV how he feels regarding this year's VMAs.

Levine, one of the hosts of The Voice who made news earlier this month by speaking out on behalf of his brother who is gay, socked it to MTV about their treatment of music artists in general.

Said Levine via Twitter, "The VMA's, one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. F**k you VMA's!"

While Adam's band, Maroon 5, is a MTV and VH1 staple, his comments could have put the band's relationship with the mega-video channels in jeopardy. As a matter of fact, Levine tweeted again on the heels of his first comment, "Still waiting to have my Jerry Macguire mission statement moment of deep regret...Not happening. Phew!"

He later said, "I may be a pop singer, but every once in a while the angry teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. It's a reflex."

MTV responded to his original tweet by saying, "Sooo, you'll be tuning in at 9/8c tomorrow right? BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!"

The band won a 2007 Moonman for their video for the song This Love for Best New Artist. His current single, Moves Like Jagger, is a duet with his Voice co-judge Christina Aguliera.

Levine is a singer/songwriter who is not afraid to make news. He stripped nude for testicular cancer awareness for a centerfold in Cosmopolitan's UK February 2011 issue.

Contrary to reports doubting his sexuality, Levine revealed that he is involved in a serious relationship with Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated model Anne Vyalitsyna.
