Portrait of a Lady: Gaga’s rise to fame

People might think she’s loco, but she has danced, dressed and sang her way to VMA fame. This year, her music videos are up for Best Choreography, Best Female Video and Best Art Direction.

The mother monster herself is easily one of the most controversial pop sensations to surface in Hollywood and her VMA appearances are no exception to the quirk her little monsters expect.

Today’s pop queens have a lot to live up to, given Britney’s strip show VMA performance and the Madonna makeout session, but Gaga came close to topping Britney’s controversy when she wore meat to the event in 2010. Will she do it again?

Her love of outrageous fashion aside, Gaga wants nothing more than to continue inspiring her fans to conquer their fears and live up to their dreams. For the love of God and the gays, we hope little monsters everywhere feel the love because Gaga has showed no limits for what it takes to get the message across.

Believe it or not, Lady Gaga didn’t always wear body suits, leotards and 10 inch heels. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta learned to play piano at age 4 and her destiny became clear after her first fingerprints made their mark in music.

As she continues to promote self empowerment, the world can only go more Gaga. Cross your fingers and hold on tight; we may be in for a wild ride.

Tune in to MTV on Aug 28th to see what message Gaga brings to the 2011 VMAs.
