MTV really wants movie buffs to tune in for Sunday’s Video Music Awards. Why? Because the ceremony will feature the first live action footage from the highly anticipated Gary Ross film, The Hunger Games.
MTV knows how to tap into a fanbase (Harry Potter, Twilight), therefore we’re not surprised that The Hunger Games has become their next target. The network got first dibs on scenes from the upcoming movie that stars Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence.
The Hunger Games is the first book in a trilogy series written by Suzanne Collins. It centers on a teenage Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) and her friends (hotties Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson) as they try to overthrow their corrupt government. The story takes place in the near future, where America is called Panem and has been drained of its resources.
As a sick form of entertainment, Panem’s 12 district rulers pick a boy and girl from their region and enter them in the Hunger Games aka a fight to the death. With a sport like that, you can understand why Katniss wants to put an end to it.
MTV has just released a teaser trailer for their big premiere and it’s blazing hot!
