Is Jennifer Aniston heading to Days of our Lives?
These days, soap operas are doing anything they can to stay in the TV game, while daytime veterans are making grand returns to save the day or bid farewell, depending on the show. Now, rumors are swirling that Jennifer Aniston is set to join her father John Aniston on Days of our Lives. Can you believe Aniston is bringing her big screen cred' to Salem?
Newser broke the story that Jennifer Aniston was set to come in for a short stint as wedding planner in a story with her father. The UK rag reported that the Horrible Bosses star doesn't want to see Days cancelled, because that would leave her father without a job after 24 years of Salem drama. An unnamed source added that the busy but dutiful daugher was coming in for a few episodes and accepting base pay for her run.
Clearly, Days would love to see the Friend in question stop by for a visit, and Aniston wouldn't be the first big name to head to daytime. James Franco is set to return to General Hospital for yet another stint and with All My Children wrapping up its run on ABC this September, Pine Valley alums like Josh Duhamel and Sarah Michelle Gellar are making returns.
Days of our Lives has also announced a lot of changes of late. With new writing and exec producing teams in place, the NBC sudser is promising a return to its roots. The much-hyped reboot has seen fave castmembers like Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Hogestyn (John), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Christie Clark (Carrie) and Patrick Muldoon (Austin) return; while the likes of Louise Sorel (Vivian), Crystal Chappell (Carly), Nadia Bjolin (Chloe) and more were sent packing.
This casting news bit would be a fun addition to that story, but sorry, it just isn't true. Jennifer Aniston is not coming to Days of our Lives to hang with her father, John, and save the show.
But the buzz certainly gave the show attention…
