Tina Fey welcomes baby girl Penelope
Tina Fey has happy news to share with the world -- baby number 2 is a happy, healthy baby girl!
We're celebrating Tina Fey's big baby news! Word is out a baby girl named Penelope Athena Richmond was welcomed by the funnywoman on Wednesday, August 10.
Tina Fey's baby girl Penelope is the second child for the actress/author/comedic genius and husband Jeff Richmond, who are also parents to 5-year-old daughter Alice. The baby's gender was a surprise to Tina who joked previously about waiting to find out, "I'm just going to see what it chooses to wear to prom."
The author of Bossy Pants, which includes the amazing and utterly hilarious The Mothers Prayer for Its Daughter, has openly discussed the difficult decision of trying for baby number two.
Elaborating on the role age (Tina Fey is currently 41) and career plans played in her decision to have another child Tina wrote she was left "stricken with guilt and panic" when her 5-year-old daughter Alice – the lone only child in her class – told her, "I wish I had a baby sister."
"I get up to go to the bathroom and study myself in the mirror," Tina, pictured here during her SNL appearance wrote. "Do I look like someone who should be pregnant? I look good for 40, but I have the quaggy jawline and hollow cheeks of a mom, not a pregnant lady. It's now or never. This decision can't be delayed."
Talking herslef into baby number two Tina Fey continued, "What's so great about work anyway? Work won't visit you when you're old. Work won't drive you to get a mammogram and take you out after for soup…. Hollywood be damned. I'll just be unemployable and labeled crazy in five years anyway."
Here's hoping that baby Penelope helps put her mother's fears at ease. Congratulations to Tina Fey and the whole family!
