Vivienne Westwood slams Kate Middleton's makeup
Kate Middleton may have the rest of the world enthralled with her ladylike fashion sense, but there is at least one person who's not impressed: designer Vivienne Westwood.
Who dares besmirch the shining image of the newly crowned fashion icon, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge? Designer Vivienne Westwood, known for her quirky designs and eye-catching appearance, says Kate Middleton is 'ordinary.'
In a recent interview with the UK's Sunday Times Magazine, the British designer said, "It seems to me, that her image is 'ordinary woman.' Therefore, High Street shopper. And I just think she should be an extraordinary woman, wherever she gets her clothes from."
It's no secret that Kate Middleton is purposefully cultivating a reputation for restraint and thriftiness, as demonstrated not only by purchasing mid-range designs straight off the rack but recycling dresses for multiple occasions like the she did for the Zara Phillips' wedding festivities. In fact, Kelly Osbourne ripped the Duchess about that very issue on The Tonight Show last week.
Also on Westwood's hit list: Kate's makeup. In particular, her trademark black eyeliner.
"I think she's got a problem with eye makeup. The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none," Westwood said.
Keep in mind Westwood rocks hair that varies in color from fluorescent orange to fluorescent yellow, red eye makeup, and paler skin than Dita Von Teese.
