Steve Carell brings Laughing Stock to Showtime

Steve Carell and David Steinberg are bringing comedians such as Mel Brooks, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Ellen DeGeneres together to talk shop. Their new half-hour series Laughing Stock will hit Showtime in 2012.

Steve Carell (The Office) and David Steinberg (Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg) have teamed up for a new Showtime interview series that will investigate the art of comedy, the evolution of the genre and how five decades of comedy greats made it to the top.

Steinberg will serve as host, while his co-executive producer Carell will come in to chat for an episode. Other greats signed on for the half-hour show include legendary greats Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Don Rickles; as well as present-day players Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Larry David, Ellen DeGeneres, Judd Apatow, Tina Fey, Jane Lynch, and Sarah Silverman.

The 10, half-hour episodes will debut on Showtime in early 2012.
