Leonardo DiCaprio's J. Edgar finally gets a release date!
Leonardo DiCaprio joined forces with Clint Eastwood for his latest piece of Oscar bait -- J. Edgar. The highly anticipated biopic has been sitting in limbo for a year, and finally has a release date.
J. Edgar has all the makings of a critical favorite, so it's only natural that Warner Brothers would release it during awards season. (If you want a film to get noticed by the Academy, the last quarter of the year is the best time to do it.)
In J. Edgar, Leonardo DiCaprio plays the title role of the infamous FBI director, whose personal life was almost as torrid as those he arrested. The film will feature an ensemble cast, which includes Naomi Watts, Judi Dench, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Lucas, and up-and-comer Armie Hammer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers has set a release date for both J. Edgar as well as Stephen Daldrey's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which stars Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. J. Edgar will open in limited theaters Nov. 9 and expand on Nov. 11, while Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close will launch on Christmas Day.
