Lady Gaga egged after mermaid wheelchair performance
Lady Gaga has gone and riled up an advocacy group by performing at a concert in a mermaid costume, seated in a wheelchair. Sound bizarre? You better believe it!
Lady Gaga was the recipient of some well aimed eggs on Monday night while leaving a night club in Sydney. What had one reveler riled up enough to hurl raw eggs at the singer? Apparently a performance in which Lady Gaga dressed in a mermaid costume and rolled around on stage in a wheelchair.
Reps for Lady Gaga, pictured here the night of the wheelchair performance, have yet to return SheKnows' inquiries into her side of the story.
However, a representative of the Life Rolls On Foundation had plenty to say about the incident. "I haven't seen Lady Gaga's performance, but respect her artistic expression as an artist," the rep tells Radaronline. "Since this isn't the first time she has used a wheelchair in her performances, I invite her to learn more about the 5.6 million Americans who live with paralysis. They, like me, unfortunately, don't use a wheelchair for shock value."
"I extend a personal invitation to Lady Gaga to attend one of our Life Rolls On events where quadriplegics and paraplegics surf, skate, and snowboard, so she can see how much is possible beyond a wheelchair," the rep continued. "Maybe that will be most shocking to her of all."
While Lady Gaga is infamous for her shock and awe publicity tactics (need we remind you of the meat dress?), it's not yet clear what kind of message the star was trying to send by performing in a wheelchair. The egging incident and wheelchair performance occurred during a close timeframe, but have yet to be confirmed as related events.
