Vera Farmiga finds Higher Ground
Oscar-nominated actress Vera Farmiga is officially a director. She stars in and directs the feature Higher Ground, which debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. After months of waiting, the first trailer for the movie has been released and it looks amazing.
Higher Ground is based on the memoir from Carolyn Briggs (who also wrote the screenplay) and centers on a woman living in a tight knit spiritual community. Vera Farmiga plays the main character Corinne, whom we follow from her days as a schoolgirl to a mother.
The film is truly a family affair because not only does Farmiga star and direct, but her younger sister Taissa also appears in the movie. Can you guess who she plays? She's the teenage version of Corinne. Talk about great casting!
The rest of the roster for Higher Ground is a who's who of indie favorites including Oscar nominee John Hawkes (Winter's Bone), Donna Murphy, Bill Irwin, Dagmara Dominczyk and Joshua Leonard. It's a really great group of actors.
Higher Ground is scheduled to open in theaters on August 26.
