Still upset that we won’t get to see Trouty Mouth on the third season of Glee? Dry your tears — Chord Overstreet will be back after all. He actually wasn’t fired, like we all thought.
“His option to be a series regular was just not picked up at this time,” a source told TV Line. “If Chord wants to appear on Glee, the choice is his. The Glee writers like his Sam character, and have plans to write for him. He and his reps have been told that he is welcome back to Glee, and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins.”
This means he’ll continue to be a recurring character, much like Harry Shum was for the first two seasons. Shum and newcomer Darren Criss were upgraded to full cast members this summer, while Overstreet and Ashley Fink will continue their supporting roles.
So, did Overstreet get the shaft? No, said the source, adding that it took Shum “two years to become a regular. If Chord has a great season, which we expect he will, then he will become a regular like Harry, possibly as early as January.”
Attempts to contact Overstreet’s rep were unsuccessful.
We’re just happy we’ll get to see more of that tall cutie on Glee.
