Chelsea Handler to be a mom

She’s a New York Times bestselling author, record-breaking comedienne and talk-show host extraordinaire, but there is one role Chelsea Handler has yet to take on, until now. She is set to play mom to Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice in a movie titled Fun Size, where she will play the teen star’s mother.

Chelsea Handler has made her living at being funny, and she’s very good at it. She’s a top-selling writer and comedienne and hosts the hilariously funny Chelsea Lately. Now, she will be taking on a role she never dreamed would suit her, that of a mother to Victoria Justice’s character in the movie Fun Size.

Chelsea will play the mother of a sarcastic teenage girl Wren (Justice), who is forced to take her brother trick-or-treating on Halloween. According to the Hollywood Reporter, she loses her brother and must find him before her mother finds out. A cautious high school debate star played by Josh Pence, who is crushing on Wren, offers to help her out.

The film is currently shooting in Cleveland, Ohio, and also stars Johnny Knoxville, Thomas McDonell, Ana Gasteyer and Jane Levy. The movie is produced and directed by teen television sensation, Josh Schwartz.

This is not the first time Handler has appeared on the big screen. She recently starred in the comedy Hop as Mrs. Beck and will appear in the upcoming film, This Means War, about two CIA operatives who wage an epic battle against one another after they both fall in love with the same woman. It was also reported Chelsea will be taking on a more serious role in the film Mall, starring opposite Vincent D’Onofrio. Mall is a dark comedy about five disaffected suburbanites who come together at a shopping mall. Handler will play a restless housewife.

Chelsea has been quite up front about her personal life. She recently revealed to the New York Times that she had an abortion when she was 16. Stated Handler, “I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done. Otherwise, I would now have a 20-year-old kid.”
