Susan Sarandon's new gig: Wedding planner
Is Oscar winner Susan Sarandon taking a break from movies to be a wedding planner? Sort of -- but let’s just say it is for a very special client.
Actress Susan Sarandon has won an Academy Award for Dead Man Walking, owns a Manhattan ping-pong parlor -- and is now a wedding planner. The 64-year-old Thelma & Louise actress has a very selective client list, however, in that you must be related to her.
Sarandon is helping her daughter, actress Eva Amurri, plan her wedding to Fox Soccer Channel commentator Kyle Martino later this year.
"I'm so uneducated when it comes to weddings that at the end of the day I don't really have that much context. For everything for my wedding I've had to look at a lot of examples," says Amurri, who is the daughter of Sarandon and director Franco Amurri.
That's where her mother comes in! "She told me to find the cake topper, so I'm working on that. I trust her judgment," Sarandon tells People. "We've talked about a few things. She's very smart and very organized."
Amurri, who has appeared in Californication and House M.D., said her mother is not taking her job lightly! "Actually, she really did her research," she said. "She came with about 700 different cake toppers, so I have to go through them."
Even though Amurri is keeping tight-lipped about her dress ("It needs to be a total surprise!"), Sarandon, who split from her boyfriend of 23 years Tim Robbins earlier this year, let a few details slip.
"It's very her," Sarandon revealed. "It's very modern and young, and it's the kind of dress that you could be in the entire evening -- it's very flattering but also very comfortable, and it doesn't seem out of character."
