The classics never die -- and there is no more classic love story than Romeo and Juliet. The tragedy is being revamped by director Carlo Carlie, and we have casting news!

Academy Award nominated young actress Hailee Steinfeld is slated to play Juliet, the Capulet caught between love and duty.

Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick has been cast as Tybalt, Juliet's hot-headed cousin who falls to Romeo's sword (what, like you didn't read this in high school?), sending the lover into exile.

Does Romeo and Juliet really need to be retold after Baz Luhrmann's 1996 Leonardo DiCaprio-starring masterpiece? We'll leave you to debate that (the answer is no) but regardless of what we think, this new flick is being made.

So who will play Romeo? That part is still up in the air, it seems. Stay tuned to SheKnows for more Romeo and Juliet casting news!
