Mary Tyler Moore preps for brain surgery
Mary Tyler Moore will undergo elective surgery to remove a benign brain tumor, the actress announced today.
Legendary television star Mary Tyler Moore will undergo elective surgery to remove a benign tumor in the tissue lining of her brain called a meningioma, the actress announced today.
"At the recommendation of her neurologist, who has been monitoring this for years, and a neurosurgeon, Mary decided to proceed with this fairly routine procedure," said a rep for the actress.
Mary Tyler Moore was first welcomed into America's living rooms as Laura Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke Show and shot to fame a decade later as a perpetually single career girl on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Not content to stick with the small screen, Moore was also nominated for a best actress Oscar for her role in Ordinary People.
Now 73 years old, the actress is still working: She recently guest starred on Hot in Cleveland beside longtime pal Betty White and made a surprise appearance on last Thursday's episode of the Rachael Ray Show during an interview with old friend Dick Van Dyke.
