Parker Posey crashes Parks and Recreation party!
Parks and Rec fans are thrilled to hear indie darling Parker Posey is coming to Pawnee this Thursday, May 5, but Amy Poehler's Leslie isn't exactly doing cartwheels. In fact, when Leslie and her BFF turned arch-rival Lindsay can't reach an agreement, the years of tension between them lead to a garbage catfight!
The former gal pals had a falling-out after Lindsay moved to Pawnee's rival town, Eagleton, and fell right into their snobby ways. Lindsay and Leslie (Amy Poehler) come face to face this week when Eagleton puts up a fence to keep the Pawnee riff raff out of their park.
"Pawnee's side of the park has a lot of trash, is really dirty and the kids just smash florescent light bulbs there; and the Eagleton is well manicured and green," Amy Poehler previewed.
When a horrified Leslie can't talk sense into Lindsay, she decides to play dirty. The years of animosity get the best of them and it gets physical, with the ladies rolling around in the garbage. Yuck!
"I came out here for meetings a year ago, so I was wondering when I was going to get asked to guest spot on this show," Posey admitted. "They asked me and I was really excited to do it. I'm a fan of the show and of Amy, so I was happy."
Parker and Poehler have actually teamed up before for the film Spring Breakdown, which also starred Jane Lynch and Rachel Dratch and went direct-to-video in 2009. Parker is currently working on the HBO film Hemingway & Gellhorn, had recent stints in Bored to Death and has four movies listed in "post-production" on IMDB, including Price Check (with Ugly Betty's Eric Mabius), Highland Park, Inside Out and Sunny Side Up.
The indie darling has also been a fave in Christopher Guest improv flicks like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind, along with Lynch, and there was chatter last fall that there's a new one in the works. Fingers crossed on that!
In the meantime, Parker Posey's Parks and Recreation episode airs Thursday, May 5 on NBC at 9:30 p.m.
