Obamas on Oprah: Our daughter does her own laundry

Before the world became aware of the news that Osama bin Laden was killed in a secret military operation green-lit by President Barack Obama, he and the first lady, Michelle Obama, were in Chicago to tape an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that aired the day after the news broke -- too bad he wasn’t able to talk about it then!

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama returned to their roots April 27 in Chicago and SheKnows was in the house! The president and first lady were in town to tape an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that is airing today, May 2. The biggest kicker of them all? The episode is airing the day after Barack Obama addressed the nation in regards to the biggest news to hit the country in some time -- Osama bin Laden is dead.

The Obamas on Oprah

While the president wasn't able to speak about Osama bin Laden at the time of the taping, he did open up about an array of topics you might find interesting.

The great thing about living in Chicago is that any time the president makes an appearance here, you get to really feel the energy because it's home to him.

SheKnows happened to be attending a taping of another Oprah show at the same time President Obama was scheduled to tape his show. The electricity was off the charts -- as was the secret service -- and street closures plagued areas around the city. President Obama will be the first to tell you -- coming home is amazing.

"It still feels like home," President Obama told Winfrey. "Our closest friends are here. Our family is here, our house is here." He even cracked a joke saying, "And the house is very clean."

Barack and Michelle Obama tackled a magnitude of subjects while sitting down with longtime supporter Oprah Winfrey, including the gossip that surrounded Obama's birth certificate.

"Reality TV is seeping into how we think about our politics," Obama explained in regards to Donald Trump's birthplace accusations.

But the conversation didn't completely revolve around politics. The Obamas also opened up about their family life and their daughter Malia's new task -- laundry! Michelle Obama revealed that their baby girl is growing up and is starting to do her own laundry.
