Emma Watson will be forever cemented in our minds as the sweet and smart tween witch Hermione in the Harry Potter series, but in reality the actress is all grown up and celebrating her 21st birthday today!
Watson, whose incredibly busy schedule caused her to take a leave of absence from Brown University, gave fans a special gift of her own: A video thank you on her website! In it, she talked about everything she has accomplished this year alone, and some of the things she has coming up. “Hi everyone. Just a quick message to say thank you for all the birthday wishes and gifts you’ve sent. I’m continually overwhelmed by the support from you all. It means so much to me, so thank you very much. Turning 21 is a significant occasion for everyone, and it’s proved to be quite a milestone,” Watson said.
“I’ve completed my first year of study at Brown University. As I’m sure you’re all aware, November saw the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Filming for the final installment of Harry Potter has also reached an end, an experience that was incredibly poignant for everyone involved. My second fair trade fashion collection for People Tree came out in February, and in March my Pure Threads collaboration with Alberta Ferretti was released. It’s been great fun working with such marvelous people, and this year I plan to continue pursuing my love of fashion, working as an ambassadress for Lancome.”
“Elsewhere I’ve been preparing for the start of filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I can’t wait to start work on the film, and look forward to new challenges,” Watson added. “On my birthday I look forward to spending some time with my friends and family. Once again, thank you so much for all your support. Lots of love, Emma xx”
Twenty-one-year-olds have the energy to do all that stuff!
