Tina Fey and her husband, Jeff Richmond, are expecting their second child together.
Fey revealed the exciting baby news during a taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show that is scheduled to air on April 12. The 40-year-old Saturday Night Live alum is five months along. The new baby will be welcomed by big sister Alice, who is 5 years old.
In her new memoir, Bossypants, Fey shared that she and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, wanted Alice to have a sibling.
“I thought that raising an only child would be the norm in Manhattan, but my daughter is the only child in her class without a sibling. Most kids have at least two. Who will be my daughter’s family when my husband and I are dead from stress-induced cankers?” Fey wrote. “She must have a sibling.”
Her announcement comes on the heels of 30 Rock co-star Alec Baldwin revealing that next season will be the last. “I will tell you one thing, and that is our show next year is our last year of the show,” he told New York magazine. “Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She’s going to be the next Elaine May. She’ll be great.”
