Jennifer Garner gets mean in Arthur

Jennifer Garner is playing against type in Arthur, her new film with Russell Brand. We'll give you the ferocious details.

What do you think of when you think of Jennifer Garner? Smiley faces, ponies, hearts and flowers...the actress just oozes sweet. Sure, she kicked butt in Alias, but after years of roles like the woman desperate to be a mom in Juno and the beyond perky little girl-turned-woman in 13 Going on 30, it's hard to imagine her with a mean bone in her body.

Jennifer Garner in Arthur

In her new role in the Russell Brand remake of Arthur, Jen goes against type and plays, well, mean. In the 1981 film, Dudley Moore played the role of a spoiled, drunken heir to a fortune. He only gets the money if he marries the woman (Jill Eikenberry) has chosen for him. He falls in love with a waitress (Liza Minelli) and has to get a job. In the Arthurremake, Garner is the parental pick. In the clips, we've seen Jen's character Susan trying to force a loveless marriage, getting him shoved onto a horse for a picture and running around after Arthur in her skivvies with a whip. Yes, Jennifer Garner with a whip. Now, we have no idea why anyone would complain about Jen in lingerie, but there you have it. So, do you buy Jennifer Garner in a "mean" role? We'd love to hear what you think.

Can't get enough Jen news? Well, here's one more little tidbit. Garner will play Agatha Christie's Miss Marple in the upcoming Disney film. Yes, we know Miss Marple was an older lady and Jen isn't exactly Betty White. Feel free to leave your opinion below.
