Barefoot Contessa Ina Garten wants to see Make A Wish child
Barefoot Contessa star Ina Garten says she was unaware of the request made by a young cancer victim and will now see the boy.
Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa whose Food Network show and series of cookbooks have made her an international star, came under fire earlier this week when she refused two requests from the Make-A-Wish foundation to meet with a young boy suffering from leukemia.
Now, Garten says she was never aware of the requests and will meet with the kid!
Garten said in a statement that she gets about 100 similar requests per month, most of which are handled by her rep, not herself -- and she wasn't even aware that the little boy's wish had been made or rejected.
"She contributes both personally and financially on a regular basis to numerous causes, including to Make-A-Wish Foundation," the statement read. "Sadly, it's -- of course -- not possible to do them all. Throughout her life, Ina has contributed generously to all kinds of important efforts and she will continue to do so."
The Barefoot Contessa plans on calling the family personally and inviting them to make that meal together. In the meantime, little Enzo's mom would like us to lay off Ina. She wrote in a blog post:
"I had written about our disappointment when we originally found out, but asked everyone in the spirit of Enzo to please just 'let it go' and move forward... I want to make it very clear we have no anger or ill will toward Ina Garten... Enzo found great comfort in watching her cook when he was going through his toughest times and for that we are so grateful."
Let's hope those are some amazing meatballs.
