The Rock Dwayne Johnson back to Wrestlemania
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is returning to his WWE roots, as he announces he will be hosting Wrestlemania 27.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is returning back to his World Wrestling Entertainment roots and hosting Wrestlemania 27.
"Finally, the Rock has come back home!" he yelled, after the announcement was made on Monday night's WWE Raw.
Johnson was a professional wrestler, known for his famous line, "If you smell what the Rock is cooking!" and for his signature raised eyebrow. He left the sport in 2004 to focus on his acting career and it quickly took off, as he starred in The Scorpion King, Walking Tall, Gridiron Giant, Race to Witch Mountainand The Other Guys.
He then made a statement in 2006 to further distance himself from the wrestling world: "From now on, please call me Dwayne Johnson. I want to be known as Dwayne Johnson the actor, and not the Rock."
Johnson, 38, must have missed the ring, as he announced that he would "never, ever" leave the WWE again. "You helped me accomplish my dreams because you never left my side," said Johnson. "Thank you, I love you!"
Jim Ross, WWE Hall of Fame announcer, tweeted after the announcement: "Dwayne Johnson's classic 'Rock' promo 2nite on RAW was the best thing on RAW in recent memory. Young wrestlers hopefully paid attention."
Wrestlemania 27 will be held April 3, 2011 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
