It's been a long time coming as fans finally got to see Ricky Gervais make his way to the American version of The Office. Gervais' cameo alongside Carell was small, but so sweet!

Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell finally came face-to-face on the American version of The Office!

On the January 27 episode of The Office, Gervais brought his beloved character from the British version, David Brent, to Scranton, Pennsylvania for a very special cameo with Steve Carell's character, Michael Scott.

Ricky Gervais has long poked fun at Steve Carell and his success on The Office, claiming he made the star what he is -- but it's all in good fun between the two comedic actors. The humor-driven rivalry has made for some pretty good award show moments in the past.

During Thursday's episode, David Brent and Michael Scott met during the show's opening and awkwardly -- in a good way -- chatted about comedy and in true Michael Scott fashion, the American boss gave David Brent a Scranton hug. Brent even asked Scott if there were any jobs available.

Ricky Gervais isn't the only big-name talent finding his way to The Office. Will Ferrell has just been linked to guest star in four episodes towards the end of the season.
