The High School Musical alum tweeted right back, via the Candie’s Twitter page. “Thnx, @BritneySpears, you’re a tough act to follow. But, I’m so excited to be the new Candie’s girl for 2011!! — xo, Vanessa.”
It was yet another Candie’s girl, however, who wooed Hudgens over to the sassy young line, which is only sold at Kohl’s department stores and kohls.com.
“Ever since I saw Fergie do the ads for Candie’s, I fell in love,” Hudgens raved. “It’s such an honor to get to be a Candie’s girl, now. I was so excited to see the range of the Candie’s products, today, because they’re so amazing. Super cute sunglasses, shoes, handbags — everything a girl could ever need.”
Hudgens’ spring Candie’s campaign will go big in March, with ads in magazines, on billboards and online, but you can already catch sneak peeks. Photos are plastered all over the Candie’s website, along with a behind-the-scenes video of the photo-shoot with Tony Duran in Sun Valley, California.
“We had a blast shooting the campaign,” said Hudgens. “One of my favorite sets was using the diner countertop as a runway. It’s definitely not every day I get to do that.”
Hudgens’ next movie gig is Beastly, a modern-day take on Beauty and the Beast with Alex Pettyfer and Mary-Kate Olsen. Folks are also tweeting about Hudgens’ current relationship status with on-again, off-again HSM beau Zac Efron.
Interestingly, this Candie’s girl news comes just two days after it was announced that Kristen Bell will take on one of Hudgens’ old gigs as a face of Neutrogena. At 30 years old, Bell will represent Neutrogena Naturals. Madonna’s apparel line also announced a big switch, with Kelly Osbourne replacing Taylor Momsen as the new face of Material Girl.
